Organic Places to Stay in the UK by Linda Moss, reviewed by Fiona Archer - £10.95 from Green Books.

This is a brilliant book if you like holidays in the UK and prefer organic food.

With full colour pictures of all the 500 places listed, and covering each County in the UK, it is a fantastic reference source, including contact phone numbers, and categories for camping, self-catering, B&Bs, farmhouses, and hotels. The book gives details on each venue, along with prices. The campsites and self-catering venues are one where a vegetable box is available. Many of the venues have grown the produce themselves, and the campsites are on organic farms. The majority of places listed use at least 50 per cent organic produce over the year, many a much higher percentage.

So if you love your trips away, this is a valuable guide.

The only word of caution would be that while it is great to stay at places using organically sourced local food, there are issues about sustainable travel in getting to the places featured, many of which are not accessible by public transport. Having said that, it is much better to holiday in the UK than be flying abroad.

The author also has a an award-winning website "Organic Places to Stay" www.organicplacestostay.com.
